Systems

The Red Cross.  When you hear that word what do you think of ?   Probably, rescue, first aid, shelter, safety, or even saviors. Since their inception in 1881 by Clara Barton, they have been synonymous with rescuing and saving lives. But… how effective would they be without organization or a system? Right, they would NOT!

Systems or organizational structure are what ordinary people use to do extra-ordinary things. The Red cross grew from 17,000 in 1914 to 20 million adult and 11 million Junior members today.  Being instrumental in health, safety, war time aid, natural disasters, water filtration, etc.  The loss of life has been drastically reduced due to the system and organization that the Red Cross has used to respond to the needs.

Systems work. Systems don’t create buzz (popularity), they don’t create the same kind of noise as a drama or concert, etc. But, they do get the job done better than anything else. systems are the reason that Henry Ford could build a cheaper car. Instead of one person doing all of the work, Many people did their part.

Systems are efficient, which is why Taco bell has an assembly line. Bill Gates and friends invented the Personal Computer, but today many ordinary workers build them. This is why other companies are able to produce products without requiring the job force to be Rocket Scientists.

Systems create order out of Chaos. They allow knowledge to be imparted organically, naturally.  But some people resist systems or structure. I have noticed a commonality in struggling people. They have at least one thing in common; they resist systems or organization structure. How many people have you heard speak of having faith but claim no Church or Pastor. And they all say nearly the same thing. I want to serve God but I am not going to church and let someone tell me what I ought to do, or monopolize my time, talent and treasure. How funny it is that these same people will often give the same loyalty and giving to some other system – whether it be social, economic, or educational, even criminal associations.

The church is a system that is Gods idea. Not man’s. Granted, we can mess it up but, God still designed the most effective training, supporting and working system the world has ever seen. And He said; “Forsake not the assembling of yourselves together as the manner of some is”. Heb. 10:25

God has planned a system that blesses the individuals serving and the individuals being served.

What system are you part of?

"Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee."
 1 Timothy 4:16
